No - they do the camel paddle!

Actually, camels are very good swimmers.

Haha, what about a camel's hump suggests it'd be capable of a backstroke? Really pretty picture. Are those two camels talking about that other camel? So rude of them...

Where was the pic taken? It's not often you see camels roaming on the beaches?

Bluey: in my years here I have never seen such a sight. What an absolutely brilliant pic.

This blog is fab!

HI All - thank you so much for your great comments.

The location of the shot is Jebel Ali beach half way down (about 10km from the hotel I guess, but not the very far end...)

The line at the horizon level is the Jebel Ali Palm construction (for those not from the region - The 3 Dubai palm constructions are crazy! Do a google for dubai palm).

It was very odd but great - must have been about 10 camels wondered on to the beach - one even tried to eat one of the kites!

Very unusual behaviour, but wonderful to see. Very calm beasts too.

Thanks again and glad you like the shot!

Cheers,

Bluey x

Beautiful photo! The ones by the water look like baby camels and the one on the hill is their mom saying let's go!

And are they wild camels (don't even know if that exists - "wild" - when speaking about camels) or do they belong to somebody? I understand they can bite as well as swim....is that true? Oh, I have so many questions!
