On Top Of The World - #143

One thing about desert driving is the fact that you will get stuck.

A simple stuck may mean just a push out of the sand. Then you get other stucks.

One of which is called beaching. This is a classic beaching. You will notice that all four wheels are not touching the sand, the car is resting on its underside.

To top this off you may also notice we are (at a guess) well over 150 feet (approx 70 metres) up on easily the highest dune on the horizon.

And here is the otherside...

Sorry about stuck, but I'm sure you had great time there! I do like the 4x4 adventure, so it look like excitingly fun!

I was just watching Amazing Race Asia, and they were out at the Dessert of Dubai. Love the way the 4WD swirls around!

nice one.. by the type of tyres on the car (BFG all terrain) i can see the owner of that car is a pro... so he couldn't have gotten stuck like that unless he's unlucky or just wanted to do it for the fun of it..

how did u get out? it's quite difficult in that position without a tow of sorts..

OMI!! THIS brought back some memories! A really popular sport in Qatar as well, dune-bashing, NOT for the faint-of-heart! ... note the Canadian flag below the checker one in the 3rd shot .... clearly this was a winter expedition, as the sand gets SO HOT later on it can burn you.... great photos, thank you!
