The Look Out - #287
Taken on the public beach in Jumeriah today.
There are a surprising amount of people still using the beach even though it was about 42 degrees today. A breeze was trying to help, but it was still very hot.
You can see the Burj Dubai in the background here. It is now the tallest building in the world as far as I know. You can also from this just how close Sheikh Zayed Road (the Burj Dubai is on the SZR) is to the beach.

Pre-Summer Blues a/k/a The Battle Of The Handedness - #262
The hats have it! Why did all the people wearing hats sit to the left?
I have been studying the lefty and righty phenomenon... and generally lefties are odd. (oddly, I'm pretty ambidextrous).
Reason for this post? Summer hits too hard here - it's so weird, in most countries of the world we all look forward to the summer, the heat, the holidays etc... even in hot countries like Aus, the summer is great! Well... here is an exception. It's hitting well into the 40+ C now so this shot may be the last of the beach for the next few months...

Something That Is About To Disappear Soon - #62
What is about to disappear?
The whole beach... there are massive developments along this fragile coastline called Dubai Waterfront. It is a huge project plus the building of Jebel Ali airport city (yes, an airport city!?!) near by will ensure this beach will not look like this in possibly 1 more year and it will certainly be gone in 5 years.
A very sad state of affairs. Gone for good.
This post is my entry for in the 1st November theme day, please use the links to below to visit all 47 Daily Photo sites that are participating.
(Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.)

An equal and opposite reaction - #44
It's not every day that you get to try something that was not just enjoyable or fun, but really amazing. Something that really excites you and stimulates your body and mind.
Today, sorry I mean yesterday (Friday), I did just that.
Kite Surfing (well a first lesson and it was on land).
Wow.
This is a picture of our instructor and one of my best friends. On Jebel Ali beach.
Pure 100% Dubai circa 2006.

One of my favourite places - #20
Another view of Dubai, a glorious view - the beach at Jebal Ali.
This is a glorious beach between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. A great place to spend a day or even camp over night with friends.
The government have made beach shelters and put up these shower units along the whole beach (except for some reason these showers are dry, they never work!). There is a huge airport just about to be developed, in fact the biggest in the world, that I think will be the end of this beach. They have started zoning it off and it is a great great shame...
The temperature is dropping steadily and very soon it'll be cool enough for the first camping trip of the year and I can't wait...
