Respectful Is A Good Word - #362

I know, another water fountain shot. I really am a big fan of them and they really are all over the place if you look.

Notice that the really nice metallic cup here is not attached in any way to the fountain - i.e. very easy to steal. And for who knows how long, it has remained here. I really like what this says about the society here... respectful is a good word.

I like that you noted how the cup is always left here. That's nice to see, isn't it?

i believe that this comes from india and the thousands of indians who work in uae. in india, it is considered impolite to touch your lips to a drinking cup. that is why you always see people using a cup, pouring the water into their mouths without the cup ever touching their lips. this way the cup remains hygenic for others to use.

If that fountain was installed in Montego Bay, that cup would have been gone two seconds after its installation. I'm also pretty sure that the faucets would also be gone the next day as well.

Sadly, I think the word "respectful" fell out of use in society here many, many, many years ago.

There is so much water shortage in Dubai, and this kind of wasting is sad.

Water is so important throughout the world as water is getting wasted here and there are so many regions in the world doesn't get enough water.

Great article, I unfortunately had some problems printing this article out, the print formatting looks a little screwed over, something you might want to look into Part Time Jobs.
