I'm sure this exists around the globe, however there is something inherently Dubai about the concept of edible gold flakes...
Should anyone wish to buy a pack, these are on sale in the deli at the Grand Hyatt for 80 dirhams (approx US$22).

interesting, recently a film named " Curse of the golden flower" (Chinese film) is being shown all over the China. In that movie, the most stunning element is the "golden" colour!!!everything looks golden...
