Something That Is About To Disappear Soon - #62

What is about to disappear?

The whole beach... there are massive developments along this fragile coastline called Dubai Waterfront. It is a huge project plus the building of Jebel Ali airport city (yes, an airport city!?!) near by will ensure this beach will not look like this in possibly 1 more year and it will certainly be gone in 5 years.

A very sad state of affairs. Gone for good.

This post is my entry for in the 1st November theme day, please use the links to below to visit all 47 Daily Photo sites that are participating.

(Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.)

What a great shot!, But what a great sadness about the beach. We've seen these developments on travel tv shows, they are amazingly brash !

Save the beaches!

Wow - great sense of emptiness there - soon be a bit crowded. I'm thinking of taking a weekly photo for the olympic buildings - looks like htat might be interesting there, too.

Environmental damage is always sad and deprives us of what makes us human.

Beautiful photo. Finding a balance between development and environment is always a difficult and painful process. Hopefully the economic benefits will be worth the lose. I doubt it! However, I would not want to live on the farm where I was raised as a child. I personally like the new development I live in. I guess I want my cake and to be able to eat it too.

Such a beautiful beach, too. Pity.

Awesome photo.

Any possibility of creating a "national park" or "national seashore"? ...Although...Americans are still fighting our president not to destroy beautiful nature areas for oil (Alaska) or development.

I looked at your post last night before going to bed but didn't comment because I wanted to let someone else be the first. When I opened it this morning and see all of the wonderful remarks, I'm sorry I didn't. Let's hope that they can find a good balance and that we don't all forget that short term benefits can have long term repercussions. As always, love your photos!

P.S. Ditto with Sally's comment. Has someone photographed the world for theme day?

Gorgious shot for our theme day today! After my youth along the California coastline I can sympathize with your concern about the development to come to this scene. We used to be able to drive the length of California and go from town to town with lots of open space between. Now open space along the coastline in populated areas is nearly non-existant. I hope those involved in Dubai's growth plan wisely for people and for the environment.

Dubai of course must be one of the fastest changing places in the world. Don't worry, once they have covered this beach with bitumen and high-rises they will construct an artificial one somewhere else.... so where's the problem? You live in a wonderful world Bluey, one where money buys everything: the destruction of a beach and the creation of a beach.
Keep smiling and keep posting. Love it!

What a heartbreaking post - it's a beautiful beach and it's a crime to put highrises on it.

I think a lot of the cities participating have seen enormous changes over the years.Whenever i have been on holiday i sometimes have to look twice to recognize certain areas in my town.
But from what i have heard about Dubai things are changing on a bigger scale and much faster.
And not for the better no.
I am afraid progress is only so for some.

Hmm it's Dubai, so i guess they will be building a super big airport?

what a beautiful photo and how sad that it's going to be eaten up by 'progress!'

Lovely picture. It breaks my heart to think that such a gorgeous beach will soon be home to much development. But, sadly, that is the way of things.
