Bluey Don't Ski - #74

It's ok - your eyes don't deceive you. This is in Dubai and this is snow in the desert... whatever next?

The biggest indoor ski slope in the world is in Dubai. Have a look at Ski Dubai

I've seen pictures of this place before, and it's just too amazing for words. They certainly know how to turn their dreams into reality out there!

OK so they have Centre Parks in Europe, where they put a tropical swimming pool under a huge 'bubble' for an exotic experience in winter - of course it was logic to go the other way round and put winter and snow under the bubble ! Still the sheer environmental expense of it all shocks me. Although... would it be worse (from an environmental point of view) to have all these people fly to the Alps or the Rockies to ski ?)

I am speechless. How long does it take to make the run? What is the degree of difficulty?

wrong wrong wrong!! how many camels does it take to power this monstrosity?!

although i do love to go ice-skating outdoors in London in the winter, so i'm a hypocrite. it's typical of me to leave a negative comment on a picture like this, one among many beautiful and revelatory images of the place that you live. i often have to be shocked in to action!

but it scares me, the extent to which man thinks he can defy nature.

U know people always criticise, because people never think of what this gives of benefit to the people out there.. this is just a ski dome made to interest people.. the people who live in the hot weather most of their time,, wishing to see ice.. am sure if u come here and visit it,, ull just love it :) :)

I guess they don't have problems with people skiing out of bounds :)

This place was mentioned on a TV show called 20/20 last night. They did not have many good things to say about the impact of all the building in your area is having on the local workers. I guess some things will never change.
