The Former Republic Of Dubai a/k/a Dubai Demokratische Republik- 256

There are some areas of any major city that show the more utilitarian, functional architecture... this could be a council estate from the UK in the 70's / 80's - however it made me think mostly of former East Germany, some older parts of Leipzig, East Berlin... perhaps that's just me.

Yes, a reminder not to all wear Mao coats. It looks very industrial and very East Germany. I agree with you. It would not be for me.

If you got there yesterday and were part of the 100 or so who left a comment about my magazine cover for my Patty, then I need to thank you for your visit. I do appreciate it. It was a first for me.

Doesn't look like the Dubai I know. Must be ready to be knocked down & turned into new apartments or a shopping centre.

Now imagine those housing blocks reaching ten times as high into the sky, so there is barely any light or sky to be seen from the ground, and wahey! The latest luxury apartments at Jumeirah Beach Residence ;)

But one thing's for sure: In East Germany there would not have been a Mercedes Benz sitting there!

I've taken similar picture of this building...
this is one building where you'll find a residents with a brand new S-class to a run down 1980's datsun

I think this building is not far away from being demolished as a few flats are vacant & I dont see a to-let board anywhere on the building...

there was even a recent fire in it

anyway about the germany factor...wouldn't know....just know that this is a very big building that is kinda rotting away
